Been very busy since December. In the past few months I have been writing and recording music more or less non-stop. In December Mrs. Muffin and I worked on original Christmas songs. In January we did all electronic music. And in February we wrote 14.5 songs as part of FAWM.
March was supposed to be about honing. Working on the material we have and learning new instruments. But, honestly, we are a little wiped from the last three months. We finally, just in the last few days, started looking at the material we have and what gets to stay. And this weekend Mrs. Muffin picked up her violin and I my glockenspiel!
I’ve thought about writing a post about Lana Del Ray. This will have to suffice for now: I do not understand people who knew about her and were fans of her and were still shocked by her awkwardness on SNL. She is very clearly awkward in the video for “Video Games.” It doesn’t look like a put on for the camera. It looks like genuine awkwardness.

As mentioned before Tarehna and I have a new music project we are working on. Well, we have been interviewed by my good friend Paul for his blog. Pretty excited about it. Have a look: http://sparksandashes.com/2012/01/27/sparking-creativity-idito-the-chicken-and-moonpie-nobot/

For today’s entry in our ongoing “Sparking Creativity” series, we catch up with quirky Portland based creative duo “Idito the Chicken and Moonpie Nobot.” We’ve featured them and their unique brand of lo-fi musical genius before.

Today, Brandon and Tarehna share their thoughts on the benefit of self-imposed goals, and the joys of creating great things with someone you love.

You read that right. Idito the Chicken and Moonpie Nobot. That’s the name of the new music project/band Mrs. Muffin and I are working on. It’s been a somewhat nebulous process until recently. Mostly it was her music with me helping out from time to time. Recently things seemed to have coalesced as we happened into doing one original Christmas song a day until Christmas. I am really excited about this. Some of the rest of the material is acoustic nerd rock in approach. Here’s an excellent example of Idito’s brilliant song writing: Sundappled Robots I heart her so!!!
Anyway, here’s the FB page, follow us and see what happens: http://www.facebook.com/IditoTheChickenAndMoonpieNobot

Alrighty, as I sit here watching the Flaming Lips: Christmas on Mars I am struck by how the audio is better than million dollar movies. There is no huge discrepancy in volume between the music and the dialogue. The dialogue is clear. But I digressed before I even gressed, so now I shall regress. Here are 5 of my favorite Christmas songs. They are neither my TOP 5 nor THE top 5, just 5 really good Christmas songs. Enjoy and share your favorites with me. Merry Christmas. And remember Jesus was actually born in March. Viva la Pisces!
